A Sister Takeover

My younger sister Clara, just like me, either puts on well thought out outfits or lazy thoughtless basics. While this post was to introduce her to the blog, it was also to share her own style and sense of fashion. Clara, who has a more edgy style than mine, paired a black top with her favorite pair of wide leg pants. She added a jeans jacket and layered some original necklaces to make the outfit more casual. Props to her! I love her look and will probably steal it from time to time!

Colourful Jacket for the Countryside

I found this awesome jacket at Zara's while shopping with a friend. Despite the fact the front of the jacket can look a little cheap, I couldn't resist the crazy back and so I bought it immediately. Even my mom was surprised it came from Zara! I put it in my luggage for this weekend outing to the chalet and found it brought life to the ordinary outfits I had. Here's some pictures showing the jacket and its amazing patterns and details.

It's a well known fact that the little black dress, "lbd" for the acronym lovers, is a must have as much as the white t-shirt, the jeans and the black stiletto are. Well I have just recently purchased my first one and I am much in love. The dress is from See by Chloe, it's very comfortable and easy to wear either for casual days or special occasions. The little details around the wrists and the shoulders make it an original and classic piece of clothing different from the little black dresses we are used to see.

I could have paired it with pretty much everything but that day I wore it only with a leather jacket and a pair of ankle boots. If I had an advice it would be that even if your main pieces are classics, don't refrain yourself; it's always nice to add a small notch to your outfit through accessories for exemple just like I did with the sparkly pink socks and the colourful handbag.

This outfit was a real mix and match, "let's try to make something out of this" small event. Just before leaving for a trip I make it a duty to look up the temperature of my destination that way I can pack my suitcase accordingly. Sometimes though, the temperature can take you by surprise, just like it did when I left for Los Angeles. I was expecting a week around 17 degrees Celsius but we had the luck of hitting the 25 degrees. Do I need to say that I'm happy when we hit the zero degree here in Montreal? Imagine my contentement! So, basically I had packed items more lightweight just in case something like this would happen. I didn't think if everything would go well together, but in the end I managed to pull it off and make a dynamic outfit with a little contemporary asian twist.

Breezy Sleeves

I have been longing to find a nice top with these kind of sleeves for a while and I finally got my hands on one while looking at Zara's Black Friday sale. While wearing it, I discovered I love the heavy feeling they have and the air that fly around my hands when I walk childishly swinging my arms as if I turned back five years old. Only, my sister's beautiful earrings she got from her Italien grand-mother that I borrowed with a lot of convincing were flipping a little too much. I was kidding around to the point where I was making a fool of myself. It didn't last very long since she told me to stop for "the joke was not funny anymore". Anyway, I loved what the look captured and pairing it with my own given Christmas present (the bag) :P made it an outfit I wish to wear again soon.

Leather Jacket for L.A.

I was never really keen on wearing leather jackets because each time I wore one it felt too much of a statement. Nowadays, I don't question what I should or shouldn't wear like I used to. It's more of a let's try things out attitude. Frankly, I realized I'm quite comfortable with the leather jacket look. It's not the most rock 'n' roll jacket either so it's not like I'm reinventing myself! About the outfit: I liked the roughness of the leather juxtaposed with the Cedric Charlier t-shirt which portrays scenes of the movie Thelma and Louise; the story of two women's adventures on Los Angeles' roads. Let's just say walking around L.A. with this outfit felt just right!

Last days of Autumn

It seems I haven't been able to take a break from university since the beginning of the semester. But to my astonishment, I felt laid-back this Friday so I decided to go to my family's chalet in Wilmington, NY. I haven't been there in a while and had forgotten how peaceful the place is. Winter seems to already have made it's way there and I unfortunately didn't get the chance to see the leaves change colours. Still, I am excited for the winter season and everything that it entails: snow, ski, and hot chocolate close to the fire place. Until then, I am keeping up with the autumn colours through my clothing items, just like this top I bought at Aritzia.

Kenzo and H&M this November

H&M has collaborated with many designers, notably with Isabel Marant, Alexander Wang and just recently with Balmain. November 3rd, they are launching their new collection in collaboration with Kenzo. From the previews they've given, the clothes are typical Kenzo; a lot of prints and a lot of colours. I'm really excited to get my hands on some of the items of the collection. Hopefully, it won't be a chaos getting in... just kidding, it will definitely be one. I have got to go nonetheless, especially for the dotted dark blue dress at the bottom left corner of the post.

* H&M says "its a collection that celebrates the history of the brand by reproducing the most caught on pieces that made it through the 70, 80 and 90 while adding a contemporary touch of Lim and Leon's designs.

About Kenzo :

It was founded in 1970 by the Japanese designer Kenzo Takada who opened his first boutique in Paris. His creations were a mix of traditional Japanese designs, of other cultures and of the high fashion world of Paris. With his fancy colourful prints and his original cuts he rapidly made his way up in the fashion industry. The brand his directed by both artistic directors Carol Lim and Humberto Leon, who manage to keep the image and the quality of what Kenzo has created.

Finally, it's Autumn! It's my favorite season because the leaves change colours, the cold weather is an excuse to get hot drinks and obviously fall fashion has arrived! Here's a casual outfit I put up which consists of two pieces I acquired at H&M this week. The bag and shirt are from the Studio A/W Collection. Love them!
